Egyptian Frozen Strawberry Season Calendar: When to Contract
Frozen strawberry buyers often ask two different questions: when are Egyptian strawberries in season, and when is the best time to place an order. The two answers are not the same. Egyptian fields are harvested and the fruit is individually quick frozen (IQF) from December through June; after that, Egy Berries ships from cold-stored stock for the rest of the year. This guide sets out the calendar so purchasing teams can plan contracts, container bookings and cash flow around it.

Why this calendar matters even if you buy outside Dec–June
Egypt's harvest window shapes when frozen strawberries actually arrive abroad, even months later. Per EastFruit (18 February 2026), Egypt shipped about 81,900 t of frozen strawberries to Germany in Jan–Nov 2025, up 61% and roughly 70% of German imports – the largest supplier since 2019 – with arrivals peaking April–August. EastFruit/FreshPlaza (3 April 2026) put Poland's 2025 imports from Egypt at 62,200 t, a 73.6% share. Those peak arrival months land a few months after the Egyptian season opens, which is exactly when buyers who contracted earlier are receiving their containers. Contracting before or early in the season is how you get ahead of that curve instead of competing for space inside it.
Varieties and cuts across the season
Egy Berries grows both Festival and Fortuna varieties across the season. Fruit is frozen whole at 15–25 mm and 25–35 mm calibres, or diced at 10×10 mm and 15×15 mm, with a minimum Brix of 7° throughout. Tell us if you need one variety specifically and we will confirm current availability.

When to contract for the best selection
- Need a specific new-crop month, variety or calibre? Contract as early in the December–June season as possible – the best whole-fruit grades and sizes are allocated first.
- Flexible on timing? Cold-stored stock is available year-round, usually with a shorter lead time.
- Booking a container? A 40' reefer holds about 24–26 t in 10 kg cartons. Book shipping space alongside the product contract, since reefer availability tightens in the April–August peak shipping season.
